Abstract
"The study of what has come to be known as cultural ecology owes a heavy debt to the studies of Canadian indigenous peoples and their adaptation to the disparate areas of Canada. This collection is a representative sample of both early and recent cultural arrangements and their relationship to the various environmental settings. The five principle areas are treated: The Great Lakes-St. Lawrence, the Boreal Forest, the Grasslands, the Pacific, and the Arctic and Barren Grounds. These essays throw considerable light on the broader subject of ecology, which is of such concern today.
