"Two studies make up this volume. The first assesses the progress toward local self-government and decision-making on Canadian reserves, many of which are located in close proximity to single enterprise communities, and thus share the potential and problems of Canada's resource frontier with their neighbours. The second study focuses on the role of company and provincial administrators in achieving local self-government, as well as high quality in local public services."--Summary of research and findings.
