Abstract
"This exhibition began as a cooperative project between the Saskatchewan Indian Federated College and the Norman Mackenzie Art Gallery to coincide with and celebrate the World Assembly of First Nations to be held in Regina. It grew to be so much more. Only after the project was well under way, did the radical nature of the exhibition become completely apparent. The exhibition is the first in a Canadian art museum to bring together a selection of works recently produced by artists of North American Indian ancestry who are applying contemporary art concepts, techniques and styles, but who retain, either imagistically or philosophically, connections to their personal heritage."--page 1.
