Abstract
"This volume contains 12 papers from the Conference on Native North American Interaction Patterns, held in Edmonton, Alberta, in April, 1982. The conference brought together anthropologists, linguists, and educators who shared a common concern with native language use and non-verbal communication. The papers describe interaction patterns for a sampling of Amerindian cultures. In some cases the patterns are found to have wide geographic distribution. The historical basis for some of the patterns is also explored. Although preliminary, the findings are seen as contributing to an understanding of both native interaction and the interaction between natives and non-natives in North America."--WorldCat.org.
