Abstract
"Bringing back the Buffalo is a theme the Saskatchewan Writers' Guild dreamt up because the youth are the dreamers of our generation. They are in the phases of their lives where they are learning and deciding who they want to be as adults. To understand or absorb our culture means to know where you came from. Our Aboriginal youth are so strong and knowledgeable yet many have forgotten where they come from. The buffalo were once a formidable animal on the prairies of Canada and although they have long been gone they are alive in our DNA. Perhaps buffalo haven't been a big part of our common, everyday lives especially as urban people, but they should be. Buffalo play a big part in our culture and when we acknowledge the role that they have played in the past then we acknowledge their importance in defining who we are today. Strong, resilient, powerful, gentle, intelligent, nurturing, beautiful creations of the Creator. Mitakuye Oyasin."--Back cover.
