Abstract
"The Assiniboin were known historically to be bison hunters living on the northern plains. As the fur trade developed, they played prominent roles as guides, traders, middlemen and provisioners of trading posts. When their population declined dramatically as a result of European-introduced diseases and destruction of the bison herds, the Assiniboin shifted westward, eventually settling on reserves in Saskatchewan, Alberta and Montana. This document looks precisely at Assiniboin First Nation."--WorldCat.org.
