Abstract
"Documentary on the Native American fancy dance, today a men's competitive dance often seen at powwows. Its origins in Oklahoma in the 1920s are recalled by eyewitnesses Paul Little Voice, Jewell McDonald, Charles Chibitty, and Woogie Watchetaker. Pete Moore, Jr. demonstrates how to don the various components of fancy dance regalia. The songs and drumming that accompany the dance are discussed by Oliver Little Cook. After a description of the elements that constitute good fancy dancing, Pete Moore, Jr. and George Alexander are seen performing solos in a competition. The tape concludes with advice for young dancers."--WorldCat.org.
