Abstract
A film account of events preceding and during the summer of 1990 with particular reference to the so-called "Mohawk Crisis." The film focuses on the Mohawk territory of Kahnawake but also reflects on Canada at a particular time in its history.

Documents the crisis precipitated by the Mohawk Warrior Society blockades at Oka (Kanesatake reserve) & the Mercier bridge (Kahnawake reserve) in 1990. Discusses longstanding Indian grievances ; the appropriateness of Surete Quebec actions, federal and provincial government responses, use of the army ; as well as the violent reactions of residents of Chateauguay and other Montreal south shore communities affected by the stand-off. It won the Best Documentary Feature Film award in its U.S. premiere at the 17th Annual American Indian Film Festival, San Francisco.
