Abstract
"This is the so-called "White Paper" prepared by the then Minister of Indian and Northern Development, Jean Chretien, for the Trudeau government in 1969. The paper calls for the elimination of reservations, phase out of treaties with Aboriginal peoples, and transfer of responsibility for Aboriginal people to the provinces. The Aboriginal peoples responded with the so-called "Red Paper" in which they reassert their rights and criticize the "White Paper" for ignoring their rights, wishes, and need to maintain their culture."--WorldCat.org.
