Abstract
"As educators, we use themes or headings, or main ideas and categories, all the time. A useful way to organize information, they are also a useful way to develop materials and ideas.
The first step in developing a thematic unit is to gather the information. This package of materials begins with brainstorming - a place to start and a place to share.
This unit was prepared by the elementary teachers of Montreal Lake School through a workshop and guided development session in March of 1988. The ideas and activities may be adapted and expanded to suit a variety of situations and abilities. Teachers are encouraged to add to these ideas and to use them as a model for other theme development."--Introduction.
