Abstract
"This remarkable collection of fiction, poetry and nonfiction grew out of a project sponsored in 1993 by Na-Me-Res, an organization providing a range of services to Toronto's Native community. A national call for submissions resulted in hundreds of responses, and organizers soon discovered a wealth of talent in Indian country that people were eager to share. Steal My Rage features 34 Native writers from all across the country on a range of topics, from spirituality, traditional values, identity and self-government to the difficulties of urban life, healing, self-esteem and love.
There is a great variety of style and approach represented here. But the contributors share a way of seeing the world, and consequently of using words, that is unique. What stands our above all in their writing is a certain emotional quality: honesty, gutsiness and an appeal for unity and community."--Back cover.
