Abstract
"For many years it has been the wish of the Manitoba Metis Federation to produce a booklet that would honour some of the famous Metis of Manitoba. When it became possible to undertake the project the path ahead seemed easy. Such proved not to be the case. There have been so many famous Metis that the most difficult task was to choose those few that the space limitations of this booklet could accommodate.
An effort was made to include a few from each period in history. Many worthy persons had to be excluded. This we regret.
It is the hope of the Manitoba Metis Federation that this booklet will be of value to all Metis in general but of particular value to school children in all parts of Manitoba. We hope this book will be read not only by Metis children but by White and Indian students as well."--Introduction.
