Abstract
"Spoken Cree, when it was first published in 1962, was immediately recognized as being the authoritative work on the subject. It has since become a classic, the mainstay of all Cree teaching (and much of Cree linguistics too) for the past twenty-one years.

This is a totally new version of the work. Grammatical sections have been revised, expanded with illustrative examples, and keyed to the drills throughout the text. Perhaps the most striking feature of the present format is the change from "Basic Conversation, Drills, and Grammar," to "Grammar, Basic Conversation, and Drills." The adult learner often experiences frustration with initial rote-learning and delayed grammatical instruction. The new order should reduce this irritant and promote recognition of forms in the ensuing conversation and drills.

There are review questions and answers at the end of each lesson and black and white drawings relevant to the conversations throughout the text.

A set of 42 audio-cassettes is also available to make this a complete, pedagogically designed, highly structured language program."--Back cover.
