Abstract
"Vital Justin Grandin, a member of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate, became Western Canada's third Catholic bishop in 1859. In 1966, he was declared venerable. (Adapted from back cover) Despite persistent ill health, Grandin travelled more than 25,000 miles on snowshoe. Because of his constant friendship with the Indian Peoples, he became known as 'The Indian bishop' and was a strong critic of the Hudson's Bay Company and the Canadian government."--WorldCat.
