Abstract
"These Guidelines are the first of their kind in Canada. They are intended to be a tool to support the improvement of forest management practices on forest land used by Aboriginal peoples. The document is not intended to resolve the intense debate on development versus the environment, but hopefully these Guidelines will provide Aboriginal communities with an understanding of good forest management practices and point the way to responsible community decision-making about forest use and management. This is a working document, meant to be reviewed and improved as we learn from our collective and local experience." -- page i.
