"In June, 1988, the Saskatchewan Senior Citizens' Provincial Council published a report titled À Study of the Unmet Needs of Off-Reserve Indian and Metis Elderly in Saskatchewan' which summarized the findings of a survey of 476 Indian and Metis individuals aged 50 and older. The Council realizes that their survey represents but a first step in an ongoing process of developing appropriate programs and services to meet the needs of native elderly people. As a result, Council decided to circulate the study findings to individuals and organizations involved with aboriginal people before finalizing the study conclusions and recommendations.
